Frequently Asked Questions

Our fees vary depending on the assessment of the needs, type of accommodation and length of stay a resident requires – one of our managers will be happy to discuss this with you.
The fee at Wellington Park includes all board and lodging, meals, snacks and drinks, in-house laundry and cleaning services, and 24-hour care – including GP visits, medication available from the GP/Pharmacy on prescription, and handling any emergencies.
Additional charges are applied for chiropody services, hairdressing services, newspapers and magazines, external laundry, dry cleaning, personal toiletries, escorts to appointments, TV subscription services and telephone services. Meals for friends and relatives are also chargeable.
The home manager or a member of the nursing team will conduct a comprehensive pre-assessment at your relative’s home or hospital. The outcome of this assessment will be discussed with you, including whether we able to meet the needs of your relative, and what the fee relevant to these care needs would be. These needs and fees are confirmed both verbally, and in writing with you before accepting an admission.
Dependant on the changing needs of the resident, a reassessment would be done to see if Wellington Park could still meet these needs. If we found we could no longer meet these needs, we would meet and discuss possible options for your loved one. This could involve a social worker in order to find the right home to satisfy the needs of your relative.
We will discuss this with you on admission. Ideally, we would like to be able to call you at any time during the day or night to let you know of any adverse circumstances. If, however, you would prefer to be disturbed during the night for emergencies only, then this would be recorded in your relative’s care plan and acted on accordingly. You are of course welcome to discuss your relative’s physical, mental health or social needs at any time with our Head of Care or another member of our nursing team. We will also involve you in any reviews of your relative’s care plan and keep you informed.
It is usual practice for any resident coming into the home to transfer to the GP that looks after all our other residents. The GP and Wellington Park have worked together for many years, providing the best possible care for all our residents.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own personal belongings such as ornaments, pictures, and small items of furniture for their bedrooms. Some larger items such as chairs and cupboards can be arranged but must be discussed with a manager before admission. All furniture items must comply with current furniture fire regulations and any electrical item brought into the home must be PAT tested before it can be used. Bed linen and towels are provided by the home.
Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit at any time, any day (within reason) and without appointment or prior notice.
There are plenty of daily activities going on in the home. We have a comprehensive activities timetable which includes Bingo, quizzes, sing a-longs, coffee mornings, cheese & wine afternoons, reminiscence sessions, seasonally themed events, as well as visiting performers and summer family barbecues. Although our team will encourage residents to take part in the activities provided, the choice of whether your relative wants to join in is left up to them. Pursuit of personal interests and hobbies is encouraged by the staff at Wellington Park.
As long as your relative is deemed well enough, then absolutely yes, of course! You would need to discuss any outings with a member of our nursing team beforehand and let us know when you expect to be back – this is primarily for monitoring and security reasons.
Public holidays are like any other day in the home and special events are celebrated with enthusiasm. At Christmas the home is fully decorated. During this festive period, most residents spend Christmas in Wellington Park and enjoy a traditional Christmas meal, but some do go out to families for lunch or tea.
Unfortunately, we do not cater for pets – we have to adhere to infection control practices and cannot risk allergies and the health of our other residents and staff.
Wellington Park is within easy walking distance of Bush Hill Park train station. There is also a bus stop right outside the home where you can catch the number 377 bus. A short walk further down the road takes you to another bus stop where you’ll find the number 192. Local taxis are also readily available near to the home.
There is no visitor parking available on-site. However, there is ample parking on the roads immediately outside, and opposite the home. The only restriction to this is between 1pm and 2pm Monday-Friday when the controlled parking zone is in place.
